This Privacy Policy outlines how the Biogr.id WordPress plugin and its associated service handle information. This policy applies specifically to the information processed to enable the functionality of the Biogr.id plugin and the required service account. It does not cover the general data practices of the website where the plugin is installed.
- What the Plugin Does
Biogr.id helps you create a “link in bio” page on your WordPress site by fetching content from your Instagram account(s) and allowing you to link Instagram posts to your website’s content. This requires connecting the plugin to our backend service.
- Information We Access and Use
To provide the Biogr.id service, we access or collect the following information:
- Account Registration Information: When you (the website administrator or owner) register for the Biogr.id service account, you use a Single Sign-On (SSO) provider (Google, GitHub, or Microsoft). We receive basic profile information from your chosen provider, typically including your name and email address. This is used solely to create and manage your service account, enabling plugin functionality.
- Website URL: We collect the URL of the website where the plugin is activated for license validation and management purposes.
- Instagram Credentials: You provide your Instagram account ID(s) and associated authentication keys/tokens required by the Instagram API. These are necessary for our service to securely connect to your Instagram account(s) on your behalf.
- Instagram Feed Data: Upon successful authorization, our service fetches data from your connected Instagram account(s) via the official Instagram API. This includes content like your posts (images, videos, captions). This data is processed on secure Google Cloud infrastructure.
- Post Connection Data: Our service allows you to link specific Instagram posts fetched by the service to content (posts, pages) on your WordPress site. We store information about these connections (e.g., which Instagram post ID is linked to which WordPress post ID) in a secure document associated with your account.
Note: The Biogr.id plugin itself does not independently collect personal data from visitors Browse the website where it’s installed. It functions by accessing the Instagram data you authorize us to fetch and displaying it according to your configuration. Any anonymous Google Analytics tracking mentioned pertains to the general website analytics setup and is separate from the data processed by this plugin’s core service.
- How We Use Your Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Biogr.id service.
- To create and manage your user account.
- To validate your license.
- To securely connect to your authorized Instagram account(s).
- To fetch your Instagram feed content as requested.
- To store and manage the links you create between Instagram posts and your website content.
- To make your fetched Instagram content and connection data available via a secure API to the plugin on your WordPress site for display and management.
- To cache fetched data within your WordPress database for performance.
- To communicate with you regarding your account or support requests.
- Data Storage, Security, and Retention
- Account Information & Credentials: Your basic account details (name, email, website URL) and securely handled Instagram credentials are stored within our service infrastructure.
- Processed Instagram Data & Connections: Fetched Instagram feed data is processed on Google Cloud. Data mapping which Instagram posts are connected to your WordPress content is stored securely in documents associated with your user account. Fetched Instagram content intended for display is cached temporarily within your website’s WordPress database.
- Security: We implement reasonable security measures to protect the information we handle, including processing on secure cloud infrastructure and secure handling of credentials.
- Retention and Control: You control which Instagram account(s) are connected to our service. Data is retained while your account is active or the Instagram connection is maintained. You have the ability to manage connections and deactivate/delete your service account via self-service options. Deleting your account will result in the deletion of your account information, stored credentials, fetched data, and connection mappings from our systems. Data cached within your WordPress database is typically cleared based on plugin settings or upon uninstallation.
- Data Sharing
We do not share any personal information, Instagram credentials, fetched Instagram data, or connection data collected or accessed through the Biogr.id service with third parties, except as necessary to provide the service (e.g., using Google Cloud for processing, interacting with the official Instagram API as authorized by you) or if required by law.
- Cookies
The Biogr.id service website or plugin settings interface may use cookies. These cookies are used solely for essential function purposes, such as remembering user preferences and managing your logged-in session for the service account. They are not used for tracking visitors on the website where the plugin is installed.
- Your Data Rights and Choices
As the user of the Biogr.id service:
- You control which Instagram account(s) are connected to the service and can disconnect them.
- You manage the connections made between Instagram posts and your WordPress content.
- You can manage your service account, including deactivating or deleting it entirely through self-service options. Deleting your account removes your associated data from our service.
